Composer Jung Jae-il infused the soundtrack of the second season of Squid Game with classical masterpieces alongside his original score.
Known for his work on Parasite (2019) and Okja (2017), Jung continues to demonstrate his musical prowess.
A graduate of Seoul Jazz Academy, Jung is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, proficient in piano, guitar, bass, and drums. His unique contributions include the musical saw in Parasite and the recorder in Squid Game’s “Way Back Then.”
Season 2 features iconic classical tracks that heighten dramatic moments. Notably, Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman underscores a tense Russian Roulette scene between the Salesman and Gi-hun, enhancing the emotional stakes.
Another highlight is Nessun dorma from Puccini’s Turandot, performed by Paul Potts, who won Britain’s Got Talent. The aria’s stirring performance mirrors the life-and-death competition.
